August - Black Panther's eponymous self titled debut album was pre-released in Taiwan and Hong Kong under the Taiwan label Rock Records, with that they became the best-selling mainland Chinese rock band ever.

They started a firestorm of Rock n¡¯ Roll.The official line-up had shrunk down to four members before recording their second album:¡®Luan Shu¡¯ (lead vocals and keyboards), ¡®Li Tong¡¯(guitar), ¡®Wang Wen Jie¡¯(bass), and ¡®Zhao Ming Yi¡¯(drums).August - the second album, "Spirit of Light", is released first on mainland China.
Black Panther regained a fifth member, as keyboarder ¡®Feng Xiao Bo¡¯ joints the band after the recording of the second album. |

February - Black Panther's third album, "No Right No Wrong"; was released which has sold 450 thousand copies, featuring Qin Yong on lead vocals.
Being the first Chinese Band playing in Japan they could catch the attention of Japanese music circle on the show in Tokyo. Shortly after, they were also performing a special gig at Hong Kong¡¯s Cotton Club.
August ¨C Representing China, Black Panther participated the huge Come-Together-Event for East-Asian Artists ¡°Rendezvous 700 Years Ago¡± in Osaka/Japan organized by China Central TV, Japan Fuji TV and Korean National Culture Organization. |

Black Panther contributed a cover of "Santa Maria" for the "True Love Forever" compilation of Chinese rock artists singing the "greatest love songs of the 20th century".

An official VCD of Black Panther's live album, "Hurricane Fervour" came out, featuring their live cuts of the concert at Beijing's Olympic Stadium back in 1998. |

Black Panther signed to Kirin Kid Productions who will produce their next album. |

November - Black Panther finished the recordings of their fifth album at Kirin Kid's famous Theatre Studios. Qin Yong and Li Tong fly to London, England to do the post-productions. |

After some delay, "Black Panther V" was released in July. They received a good coverage on mainland China's press while promoting their new album. |

March - After being lead singer of Black Panther for over 10 years, Qin Yong departed amicably from the band. Black Panther announced Zhang Keeping to be taking over lead vocals. |
